There are 1.62 million vegans in the US, but only around 320,760 (19.8%) reside in the Midwest. Yet the Midwest is home to a disproportionate number of factory farms, puppy mills, research laboratories, zoos, and more. Project Animal Freedom is working to change this grim reality. Through our campaigns, events, and resource creation, we hope to increase the number of vegans in the Midwest, create and mobilize activists across the Midwest, champion intersectionality in the animal rights movement and beyond, inspire large-scale generosity to benefit animals, and transform institutions through effective pressure campaigns.
