Join our #CompassionateCampusesCampaign as we distribute visually stunning, high-impact leaflets at SLU, one of the largest universities in all Missouri with over 14,000 students! This is our opportunity to influence future mothers and fathers, teachers and nonprofit leaders, and professors and professionals of every type, in turn helping build the vegan world we not only so desperately crave, but all so rightfully deserve!
OUR GOAL:
We strive to build thriving coalitions for animal rights at all 3,800 major colleges across the US, reaching over 100,000 students in the St. Louis region alone. As part of our campus internship program, high-achieving and high-potential interns will learn effective tabling, leafleting, and community-building skills, in addition to receiving continual, one-on-one advice on building a movement for the animals on their campus. By pursuing high-impact advocacy, each of these interns can save thousands of lives per semester while honing their skills as lifelong activists. (WANT TO JOIN OUR COLLEGE OUTREACH PROGRAM? DETAILS:
We will meet at 8:30 in the morning by the Grand crosswalk between DuBourg Hall and the Busch Student Center (you can view our exact meeting location via the following link: https://goo.gl/maps/XGJoJeQzpn2NUWGZ7). Leaflets will be provided. We welcome anyone and everyone to join us whenever they can; you can participate in this event without staying the whole time, and you can join us later in the day or leave before this outreach opportunity ends at 1:30 p.m., per the demands of your schedule. Peak student traffic lasts from 10:30-1:30 p.m. During this time, we will need at least three or four leafleters at all times to make sure we reach our goal of distributing 3,000 leaflets within just a handful of hours.
WHY LEAFLET?
While leafleting may not be the most glorious form of activism, studies have shown time and time again it is one of the most tried and true methods of effecting meaningful social change for our nonhuman animal compatriots; each leaflet we distribute will spare roughly one animal from a lifetime of misery according to research conducted by several leading animal rights organizations, from The Humane League to Vegan Outreach. More excitingly still, college students are considerably more likely to modify their dietary habits in light of the information we share with them, making our outreach even more high-impact. What other form of outreach enables you to spare one animal from a lifetime of suffering in exchange for just a few seconds of your time and seven cents worth of printed material?
