A massive thank you to Jake Conroy (AKA The Cranky Vegan), Shriya Swaminathan, Jeanette McDermott, the Luzynski family, and everyone else who joined us for a splendid evening with a time-tested animal rights hero at our screening of The Animal People this Wednesday! I had a top notch experience last night at a film screening of “Animal People” which Project Animal Freedom hosted at Utopia Studios. The documentary tells the story of how six peaceful protesters ended up as the FBI’s Public Enemy #1 for exercising their First Amendment rights. Jake Conroy was sentenced to a six-year federal prison term for non-violent protest actions that targeted a multi-national animal testing corporation. Watching movies like this and hearing first-hand testimonies are enough to make a person question lifelong beliefs.
