This Juneteenth, we stand in solidarity with African peoples.

Alexandra Boldwyn, a vegan animal rights activist from St. Louis, Missouri, holding a sign that reads black power matters at the St. Louis March for Reparations to African Peoples

This Juneteenth, we not only celebrate the emancipation of enslaved African Americans, but stand in solidarity with the ongoing struggle for Black social, economic, and political power. Racial justice, climate justice, and animal justice are all inextricably intertwined; none can be properly realized without the others. Embracing intersectionality in our advocacy efforts as animal rights activists is therefore not only the right thing to do, but also a vital necessity if our goal truly is to build a world where all animals live safe, happy, and free.
