A Hidden Gem in Battle Creek, Michigan!
In 2018, Trish Case opened and began operating VeggZ Café in Battle Creek, Michigan, serving 100%-vegan meals and pastries. Trish was inspired to open her own vegan café because it was quite difficult to find vegan takeout in her area. Trish’s overall goal was to open a small café where she could work with several team members to cook and bake foods that were meat-, egg-, and dairy-free. VeggZ Café offers a wide variety of deeply satisfying, nutrient-packed meals. Due to the relative paucity of vegetarian and vegans in the area, however, VeggZ Café must constantly find innovative ways to market itself and attract more hungry customers.
VeggZ Café is open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., but they also vend at farmers markets and other events during the summer. The café has a hip, chic, artsy vibe that makes it the perfect place to order some refreshing coffee or grab any one of their delicious menu items. Customers can enjoy breakfast and lunch while surrounded by beautiful paintings in their elegant dining area. The café provides a spacious, relaxed environment where customers can connect with each other over their shared love of plant-based living.
Trish firmly believes that anyone considering opening a vegan restaurant should pursue their dream of doing so without hesitation. She also emphasizes how crucial it is that one act on their passions so they can do what they love; as she stresses, “[Pursuing your dreams] is not easy, but it is worth it.”
Customer favorites with rave reviews include their Patty Melt, Beet Rueben, Mac ‘n’ Cheese, Smash Wraps, Spinach and Tomato Panini, as well as their pastries, baked cookies, and stuffed dates. Pictured below is VeggZ Café’s Avocado Veggz Sammich. It is made with toasted seven sprouted grains bread (gluten-free bread is available upon request), avocado, power greens, carrots, radishes, tomato, hummus, and cheddar cheeze. Packed with nutrients, this delightful dish costs just $7 a pop. VeggZ Café also offers takeout and curbside delivery.
